Event Description

Australia’s Open Gardens

INVITATION TO AN OPEN GARDEN

(A local garden open under the Australia’s Open Garden Scheme)

Annie and Malcolm Jones invite you to visit our Paddington garden

About the garden

An inner city oasis (house and garden standing on 2 terrace blocks)

The large rear garden comprises 3 terraces retained by dry sandstone walls interconnected with generous sandstone steps, unified further with interlocking sandstone paving throughout the terraces.

The garden has a mature canopy of Angophora Costata and Lilli Pilli trees, along with Bangalow and Kentia palms. The under planting is green consisting of Tree, Birds Nest and Maiden Hair ferns. Sydney Rock Orchids grow on the dry sandstone walls. Native Cordylines and drifts of violets are dispersed throughout the garden.

Small drawings and prints of the garden are available by artists Malcolm Jones and Raylene Sargeant; some small sculptures by local artisans are also available.

The novel ‘The Lost Sister of Groningen’ by author Nell Jones launched at the International Ubud Writers and Readers Festival in 2011 will be for sale, along with some other small short run books.

Put us in your diary now! Looking forward to seeing you relaxing in our garden with a cuppa!
